U. S. A. Independence Day 2015

As we celebrate Independence Day this year in 2015, we must reflect on our history. For it is this history we are celebrating. This celebration today came about because of the celebration from the 13 colonies succeeding from England and beginning a new nation. The starting of this came about because of war, the death of those who believed that they were fighting for something important; something very special. We have continued that through time on our way to becoming a world power. As unfortunate as it is, war has been the way throughout time. God himself sent his people to war on his behalf. As we look back on time let us not celebrate war but rather celebrate those who gave their lives for our ability to celebrate freedom. No one wants to go to war or die in war; yet there are many times that it must be done. September 11, 2001 brought war, a new kind of war, to our homeland. Many have died since that time, yet it is something that we must do. We fight a war today unlike any war we have ever had before. It is non geographical, no boarders, no single face, and hard to identify friend from foe. Let us take time this day and remember all those individuals from all the wars in history. The two World Wars, Korean conflict, Viet Nam (the unrecognized war), the two Gulf wars, and now the wars against terrorism. Let us pay respect to those who gave their lives that we may be free. Scripture says in John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for a friend”. In the history of this great land so many have done just that, let us remember them as we celebrate what their sacrifices have given us; our freedom. God Bless America, and may he keep us safe and strong for ever.

  1. I agree whole-heartedly with your comments. Our countries, our civilizations, our people all evolve, and history is a way of reminding us of both good and bad decisions that have been made. If we do not learn from the past we are doomed to repeat it! The United States has many good values and is a wonderful place to live, but it is still very “young,” and as a country and a people there are many years of evolution ahead. Independence was just one of many milestones this great country has achieved, let’s hope there are more in the no so distant future,,,,,
